Fashion designer Asma Gulzar shares her exquisite creations with Andrea CostaBir while cueing her into the newest styles for the festive season!
Elaborate designs inspired by Indian royalty. Yet, simple and elegant in their portrayal. That’s Asma Gulzar’s design ethic for you. “I frequently use rich fabrics like velvet, scuba, kimkhab and pures. I have been in the fashion industry for 12 years now and I must say that I am enjoying every bit of it!” Asma’s bridal collection is very popular too, blending Indo-Western styles with floor-length jackets, and anarkali gowns with heavy zardosi work. Classy designs and a feminine colour palette lend Asma’s creations an exquisite appearance.

Asma’s passion for clothing goes back to her childhood in Lucknow. She pursued her passion and then received a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Designing from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, and started her career as a designer with her friend in 2003. In 2008, she launched her first independent label: Aida Couture – The Fashion Hub. Ever since, she has only gained in design strength.

We get her to share the season’s Top Festive Trends:
Sustainable Fabrics. With an increasing focus on eco-consciousness, sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, linen and recycled silk are making a strong statement. Designers are using these materials while keeping the luxury factor intact.
Bold & Vibrant Colours: Bright shades like electric blue, emerald green, and deep purples will dominate the colour palette this festive season! Metallic tones like gold and silver are also trending, adding an extra touch of glam to traditional outfits.

Asymmetry & Layering: Asymmetric hemlines and creative layering of fabrics and textures are big this season. Whether it is layering dupattas, jackets over lehengas, or adding unique cuts, this trend gives a modern twist to classic outfits.
Thread Embroidery: Will be seen across lehengas, saris and anarkalis.

Co-Ord Sets & Sharara Pants: Comfortable and stylish, co-ord sets with amazing prints and flowy fabrics, and even sharara pants are gaining popularity for festive occasions. These outfits provide both ease and elegance.
Indo-Western Fusion Wear: Continues to be a strong trend, blending ethnic styles with contemporary cuts.
