The government is projecting an ambitious plan to achieve universal health care for Indian citizens. The new health care scheme under Ayushman Bharat aims to set up 1.5 lakh health care delivery centers across the country.
While this will be a great move for patients, pharma companies, and health care providers, experts have opined that the government needs to address key challenges, including the funding and qualified human resources required for these centers.
Additionally, they feel that given the level of investment required, the government may have to depend heavily on CSR and philanthropy activities of private players to get close to the ambitious goal of universal health care.
