Teenager with Alzheimer’s

A 19-year-old in Beijing, China, is the youngest to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s according to a January study from the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

He was diagnosed by the researchers from Capital Medical University’s Xuanwu Hospital in Beijing after he showed “gradual memory decline for 2 years,” leaving him unable to complete high school.

The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s and it affects memory, thinking and behaviour. Although it primarily affects older adults, this case is truly exceptional.

The authors of the paper noticed early markers of the disease like significant memory impairment and hippocampal atrophy.
