Doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have rewritten Indian badminton’s history, becoming the first from the country after Dinesh Khanna to be crowned champions at the Badminton Asia Championships.

This is India’s first gold medal at the Continental Tournament in 58 years.

India’s previous best performance in men’s doubles at the Asia Championships was a bronze-medal finish by Dipu Ghosh and Raman Ghosh in 1971.
