Renowned Brazilian football player Pele has passed away at the age of 82.

He was hospitalised at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital in Sao Paulo, due to his fight with colon cancer which he had been dealing with for the past two years. It was also recently discovered that the former football star required therapy for heart and renal issues.

Pele was the only player to win 3 World Cups through his entire international career.

He was also considered to be Brazil’s national treasure, therefore it is no surprise that the country declared a 3-day mourning period for this loss. A sad day for football, indeed.
