Dr Blossom Kochhar, pioneer of aromatherapy in India, shares simple DIY face packs to soothe, hydrate and brighten skin through summer.
Summer can leave skin looking tired, oily and dehydrated. Excess heat, humidity and sun exposure often lead to dullness, clogged pores and sensitivity. The good news is that a few simple kitchen ingredients can help restore hydration, calm irritation and bring back a healthy glow.

Here are five easy DIY face packs for naturally radiant, youthful-looking skin this season.
Cucumber & Aloe Vera Cooling Face Pack
Cucumber cools overheated skin, reduces puffiness and soothes sun-exposed skin, while aloe vera deeply hydrates and calms irritation.

Blend one fresh cucumber with aloe vera gel until smooth. Apply evenly to the face and leave on for 15–20 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
Honey & Yoghurt Glow Pack
Summer heat can leave skin feeling rough and dehydrated. Yoghurt contains lactic acid that gently exfoliates dead skin cells, while honey acts as a natural humectant to lock in moisture.
Mix two tablespoons of yoghurt with one teaspoon of honey. Apply a generous layer to the face and neck and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing gently.
Rose Water & Sandalwood Summer Glow Pack
Sandalwood has long been valued in Indian skincare for its cooling, soothing and brightening properties. Combined with rose water, it helps refresh and revive tired skin.

Mix sandalwood powder with enough rose water to form a smooth paste. Apply evenly to the face, allow it to dry slightly, then rinse with cold water.
Papaya & Oatmeal Brightening Pack
Dead skin build-up and tanning can leave skin looking uneven during summer. Papaya’s natural enzymes help brighten the skin, while oatmeal gently exfoliates and soothes irritation.

Mash ripe papaya and mix with powdered oatmeal to form a paste. Apply to clean skin and leave on for 15 minutes. Gently massage while rinsing off with water.
Multani Mitti & Mint Oil-Control Pack
Humidity and sweat can lead to excess oil and clogged pores. Multani mitti absorbs excess oil and deeply cleanses the skin, while mint leaves provide a cooling, refreshing effect.
Blend mint leaves into a paste and mix with multani mitti and rose water. Apply evenly to the skin and rinse off before the pack dries completely.
Tips For Youthful-Looking Skin
• Wear sunscreen every day, even indoors.
• Sun exposure can cause premature ageing, pigmentation and loss of elasticity.
• Choose lightweight, non-greasy sunscreens suitable for humid weather.
• Avoid over-exfoliating during summer, as it can damage the skin barrier.
• Stick to gentle cleansers, hydrating products and soothing skincare formulas.
With consistent care, proper hydration and simple natural ingredients, your skin can stay balanced, glowing and healthy throughout the summer.
