From Disney Channel favourites to chart-topping musicians, brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas have built a lasting career as a band while pursuing individual ambitions and navigating life in the spotlight.

It has been a particularly happening time for Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas, who are in the midst of their North American tour, following sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden. The Jonas Brothers, admirably, are finding new ways to connect with fans who have followed them since their teenage years.

This August, they returned with their new single, ‘Listen When Sad’. Drawing on alternative and emo influences, it brings a different sound to their familiar pop-rock style. But their story extends well beyond music. In August 2026, Kevin, Joe and Nick were named Disney Legends, receiving one of the entertainment company’s highest honours for their contribution to its legacy. In 2023, they received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Nick has established himself as an actor through projects including the ‘Jumanji’ films, while the brothers returned to their Disney roots with ‘A Very Jonas Christmas Movie’ in 2025 and ‘Camp Rock 3’ in 2026.

Yet the Jonas Brothers’ story remains rooted in family. From their early days as Disney Channel favourites to their reunion after a six-year split, Kevin, Joe and Nick have navigated fame, changing ambitions and personal milestones together. Their journey is also one of growing up in public, building families of their own and discovering that the bond between brothers can survive even a professional separation.

Three Brothers, One Musical Beginning

Kevin Jonas was born in 1987, Joe in 1989 and Nick in 1992. Music was part of their lives from an early age. Their father, a musician and former minister, encouraged their interest, while Nick began performing on Broadway at just six years old.

Nick’s early musical work helped bring the brothers together professionally. They began recording as a group and released their first album, ‘It’s About Time’, in 2006. The album received limited promotion and their record label eventually dropped them. However, the setback didn’t stop their ambitions.

In 2007, they signed with Hollywood Records and released their self-titled second album. It reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200, while the single ‘S.O.S.’ became an early hit. Their accessible pop-rock sound, catchy melodies and songs about relationships helped them connect with a young audience.

The Disney Effect

Disney Channel played a major role in the Jonas Brothers’ rise to fame. They appeared on ‘Hannah Montana’ and toured with Miley Cyrus, reaching a wider audience. Their popularity grew further with ‘Camp Rock’ in 2008, in which Joe played Shane Gray, a talented musician at a summer music camp. The film introduced the brothers to viewers who may not have discovered their music otherwise.

They followed it with the television series ‘Jonas’, concert tours and a 3D concert film. Their album ‘A Little Bit Longer’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2008, with songs such as ‘Burnin’ Up’ and ‘Lovebug’ becoming fan favourites. ‘Lines, Vines and Trying Times’, released in 2009, explored a more mature sound while retaining the melodies that had made them popular.

The Disney connection has endured. In 2025, the brothers starred as themselves in ‘A Very Jonas Christmas Movie’, a holiday comedy in which they encounter a series of obstacles while trying to travel from London to New York in time to spend Christmas with their families. They also served as producers, and the film featured special appearances by members of the Jonas family. Its original songs brought music back into a story that reflected their lives as adults and fathers.

Finding Their Own Paths

As the brothers grew older, they began exploring interests outside the band. Joe formed DNCE, whose single ‘Cake by the Ocean’ became a major hit. Kevin pursued business ventures and family life, while Nick developed a solo career that included music and acting.

Nick’s screen career has extended well beyond Disney. He appeared in ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, alongside Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black. His work in film and television has allowed him to move between music, acting and other entertainment projects, building a profile independent of the band.

Despite their success, the Jonas Brothers announced their split in October 2013, following the cancellation of a tour. Creative differences and disagreements about the direction of the group contributed to the decision. For fans who had grown up listening to them, the breakup was a disappointment.

The brothers continued to work independently, gaining experience in different areas of entertainment and business. In 2019, they reunited with ‘Sucker’, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their album ‘Happiness Begins’ also topped the Billboard 200.

The documentary ‘Chasing Happiness’ offered a closer look at their journey, including the tensions that led to their separation and the process of coming back together. It revealed that their relationship had been tested by the demands of working together from a young age. Their reunion required them to confront old disagreements and find a way to collaborate as adults rather than simply return to the dynamic they had shared as teenagers.

Many fans who had grown up watching them on Disney Channel were now adults themselves. The reunion allowed them to reconnect with the music they remembered while discovering how the brothers had evolved.

Men Behind The Music

Away from the stage, family remains an important part of the brothers’ lives. Kevin married Danielle Deleasa in 2009. They have two daughters, Alena and Valentina, and have largely kept their family life away from the spotlight. Kevin has also ventured into television, co-hosting the reality competition series ‘Claim to Fame’ with his younger brother, Frankie Jonas.

Frankie, the youngest of the four Jonas brothers, has followed a different path from Kevin, Joe and Nick. While he is not part of the musical trio, his work in entertainment has given him a role in the family’s wider public life.

Nick married actor Priyanka Chopra in 2018. Their daughter, Malti Marie, was born via surrogacy in January 2022. Joe married actor Sophie Turner in 2019, and they have two daughters, Willa and Delphine. Their divorce was finalised in 2024.

The brothers’ partners have also been part of their public story. During the Jonas Brothers’ 2019 reunion tour, Priyanka, Sophie and Danielle were among the most visible supporters of the band. They attended performances together, shared photographs and celebrated the brothers’ return to the stage. Fans came to refer to the trio as the ‘J Sisters’.

The bond was more than a shared presence at concerts. In an interview with ‘ELLE’ in 2020, Sophie spoke about the friendship she had developed with Priyanka and Danielle, describing them as friends who understood the unusual demands of life alongside the brothers. Priyanka had also spoken publicly about the closeness she felt with her sisters-in-law. Their friendship offered a glimpse of the support system around the band during a significant period in its comeback.

Although Joe and Sophie have since separated, those moments remain part of the family’s public history. The brothers’ lives have continued to change, but their family relationships have often intersected with their professional journeys.

Fatherhood has added another dimension to Kevin, Joe and Nick’s lives. Their careers still involve music, touring and other projects, but they now balance these demands with raising children and maintaining individual careers. Their experiences also highlight the challenges of keeping parts of family life private when fame begins at a young age.

What Makes Them Last?

The Jonas Brothers have built a catalogue of songs that continues to connect with listeners, retaining strong melodies and accessible lyrics as their sound has evolved. Their individual careers have given them room to grow, while their shared musical history has continued to draw them back together.

Their 2025 album, ‘Greetings from Your Hometown’, their return to the ‘Camp Rock’ franchise and their latest single show that the band remains active. Their current tour gives fans another opportunity to hear the music that has followed them through different stages of life.

Today, Kevin, Joe and Nick have individual careers and families, but the band remains an important part of their lives. Their recognition as Disney Legends reflects the lasting impact of their early work, while their continuing presence in music, film and television shows how far they have travelled since their teenage years. For longtime fans, their songs bring back memories of an earlier time; for the brothers, they are a reminder of where it all began.
