Roger Federer announced his retirement from competitive tennis on Thursday where he thanked his family, friends and competitors. Federer tells us that his decision has come in light of his injuries and partial recoveries over the years – his body is giving him a clear message.
Federer’s message was met by love from fans all over the world and his arch-competitor, Rafael Nadal, paid him a moving tribute
“Dear Roger, my friend and rival. I wish this day would have never come. It’s a sad day for me personally, and for sports around the world. It’s been a pleasure, but also an honor and privilege to share all these years with you, living so many amazing moments on and off the court,” Nadal wrote in a tweet.
The tennis family is going to miss watching the two go toe-to-toe on the tennis court.
Roger, there will never be another you. Only respect and love for you.
