After his prolonged illness, Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away at the age of 82. He was elected an MLA 10 times and an MP seven times. He also served as the Defence Minister, GoI, and thrice as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh’s current Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condoled the demise of the former CM, and declared a three-day mourning in the state as a mark of respect.

The last rites of the leader will be held with full state honours.
